POKOTABI / Rimin

Close to Tokyo Skytree, Rimin serves hearty Chinese plates, from mapo tofu and Taiwan mazesoba to daily sets like chinjao rosu, paired effortlessly with evening drinks.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Set just below Tokyo Skytree in the Narihira neighbourhood, Chinese restaurant Rimin is a dependable spot when you want a hearty, satisfying meal. Its unpretentious take on authentic Chinese cooking comes in generous portions for lunch and dinner, drawing a steady crowd of solo diners as well as groups gathering after hours.
Lunch revolves around hearty noodles and generous set meals. The loaded Taiwan mazesoba brothless noodles let you choose whether to add garlic, and you can stir the accompanying mini bowl of rice into the residual sauce at the end so nothing goes to waste. Daily specials such as chinjao rosu (shredded beef and pepper stir-fry) and an authentic Sichuan mapo tofu teishoku—with customizable chilli heat—arrive as well-rounded sets complete with rice, soup, and almond pudding. For a quicker bite, mapo don rice bowls and fragrant crab fried rice tossed with crisp shredded lettuce hit the spot.
Come nightfall, Rimin transitions easily into an informal izakaya-style tavern. The Skytree Set packs a draft beer together with appetizers, steamed chicken with house dressing, and a daily small dish. Other drinking snacks include Chinese chive scrambled eggs, xiao long bao, mala-seasoned gizzards, and cold dressed dried tofu ribbons. Alongside Japanese beer, the bar pours Tsingtao, highballs, and aged Shaoxing wine by the year, making it easy to unwind over black-vinegar sweet-and-sour pork or wok-seared morning glory.
In addition to table dining, Rimin offers takeaway and home delivery, keeping neighbourhood lunches and after-work suppers well supplied with energetic Chinese cooking.
